Road Restriction Notice - Please reduce the use of 1st Avenue North

With the weather being mild, the ground is now thawing, turning 1st Avenue North into a real mess.
There are some very soft spots out there right now and Public Works has put pylons out to alert passers-by.

Please be mindful of deliveries, except, of course, septic and water trucks as they are an essential service.

Thanks,
Summer Village of Seba Beach

WWMC - Shoreline Stabilization Workshop
Saturday, May 11th

With current low water levels, this may be an excellent time to consider protecting the shoreline from erosion when lake levels do return to normal or above.

In conjunction with last year's Bulrush restoration project, the WWMC will be hosting a free workshop this spring, demonstrating the use of Bioengineering as an alternative to hard armoring to protect shorelines. Bioengineering is a technique using natural materials to stabilize soils. It offers an economical and sustainable method of stabilizing slopes while promoting the successful reclamation of disturbed sites.

Mark your calendars, the workshop will be held on Saturday, May 11th, and will include a brief introduction to the fundamentals of bioengineering, followed by hands-on training on willow harvesting and installation methods at a site at Seba Beach. Attendance will be limited so please register early.
For more information and how to register,
download the workshop notice.

FREE FireSmart Home Assessments

Parkland County is now offering FREE FireSmart Home Assessments to residents of Parkland County, including the Summer Village of Seba Beach, and other Summer Villages.

County residents can get a free FireSmart Home Assessment to learn how to protect their homes from wildfires. Each assessment takes about 45 minutes, and it's important that you're there too.

Our FireSmart experts will:

1.     Tour the outside of your house and yard for things that increase your risk during a wildfire.

2.     Provide a customized report based on what they see with actions on how to reduce the risk of damage by wildfire.

3.     Share helpful tips to make your home less susceptible to wildfires.

If you've completed the suggested safety improvements in the report, you can ask for another assessment later if you wish.

Visit Parkland County - Free FireSmart Home Assessments for more information!

Yellowhead Regional Library - YRL 2023 Annual Report

As a valued partner and/or member of Yellowhead Regional Library (YRL), I am happy to share the YRL 2023 Annual Report.

For YRL member municipalities and school divisions, we know the return on your investment with us is critical. The Annual Report demonstrates several key indicators of our value to your residents and students.

The power of regional collaboration opens a world of resources to every person living in the YRL region. The power of our collective purchasing and distribution delivers a catalog of materials beyond what any individual library could maintain on its own. And, the power of our continuous improvement brings the latest technology and best practices to each member library and the patrons they serve. I hope you find the Annual Report informative and reflective of a remarkable year.

We would be happy to speak to your Council and/or Library Board about YRL services, governance, and our 2023-2025 Strategic Plan. To schedule a presentation, please contact Laurie, Executive Assistant, at lhaak@yrl.ab.ca or 780-962-2003, ext. 221.

Thank you for your continued support of YRL and library services.
